3rd Annual Pound Cake Portrait Paint-Off Extravaganza!

Our most popular Annual Event was a hit again in 2017!  Painters are given the Challenge of live painting in a spectator-sport setting, nudging them with a short time limit and an audience, to shift how they work; The General Public is given the thrill of watching blank canvases brought to life before their eyes, by some of the most talented portrait-painters in the region!

See the Press Release about the successful event, including highlights, here.

Pictures from this years 2017 3rd Annual Sun Drop Pound Cake Portrait Paint-Off:

Every year a different group of five invited master-portraitists are the ‘Featured Painters,’ with a larger group of area artists who sign up, via 1st-come 1st served email request, to paint from the 2nd row. All work from one live, professional model. Rounding out the event will be a hired emcee --This year, it's Concord/ Kannapolis reporter and impresario Michael Knox! -- to keep the energy up and the timing clear.

THE FIVE FEATURED PAINTERS THIS YEAR ARE:

Robin Wellner; Gordon C. James; Barbara Ellis; Mark Stephenson; Isaac Payne.
