Ages 18 and up

Get ready for a free flowing fun workshop on August 19th to create a custom piece embellished with Resin Art. Mahnez, a popular instructor at CAG will be back in Aug to help you create a custom piece to decorate your home. The process is fun and every project will be unique. Class will begin with Mahnez explaining the resin process. We will then prep your piece. After that we will mix the resin adding pigment colors to match your décor. The fun starts with pouring the resin on your piece to make your design.

It is important to note that the resin requires 24 hours to cure but can be moved after 2 hours. You will be able to leave your piece to cure at the Clearwater Studio thru the weekend if you prefer. All materials outside of the piece to be decorated will be provided.

Suggestions for the piece to decorate:

1- Bring a piece of furniture (i.e. end table, side table or a piece that has a wooden top). You can cover the top with resin in any color you like.

2- Bring silicone molds for a resin pour. You can purchase resin molds at Amazon, Michael’s or hobby lobby stores. You can choose molds for coaster or a 10” round plate.

3- Tableware (i.e. a plate, a bowl that has been used and might have scratches on it, or a metal tray or platter). You can do a resin pour on across the bottom and give it a fresh new look.

Class description:

Let your creativity flow! Participants will create a charcuterie board that is both beautiful and functional. You can choose colors that coordinate with your kitchen or perhaps make a unique gift for a friend. These boards are 6”x15” or 7”x15” and are made of acacia wood. We’ll be using a two-part epoxy resin that gives the boards a shiny glass-like surface. The finished boards are waterproof, scratch resistant, and can handle hot items like coffee or tea cups. We’ll spend a good amount of time preparing the boards for use, it’s very important they are clean and the edges are sealed.  Freshly poured epoxy resin takes about 24 hours to set, they are hard to the touch at this time, however about a week is recommended before using to allow for a full hard cure. In class, we’ll prepare and pour the epoxy resin then leave the boards to begin curing. We’ll break for demos by the instructor and lunch. Please bring your lunch. There is a kitchen available with a microwave. After lunch we’ll remove the taped edge that we added during the preparation. You could possibly take your board home with you after class, however it’s recommended you leave it to dry overnight. A box to store the board in while curing and for carrying home is a good idea. Mahnaz is an experienced epoxy resin instructor. She has conducted several resin classes at CAG earlier this year. Participants keep coming back for her next resin topic and are enjoying experience.

Note: the samples shown were completed on small demo boards. Your finished board will be larger than the samples.
