This marks the 11th year of this collaboration between the City of Concord's ClearWater Arts Center & Studios and the Fine & Applied Arts Department at RCCC. RCCC has art classes on both its Salisbury and Concord campuses. 

The exhibit will be on view in the ClearWater Main Gallery through Thursday, May 1, 2025.

Cabarrus Art Guild Description:

Mark Making from the “Ground” Up

For our monthly meeting on Sunday, June 9 at 2 pm, the Cabarrus Art Guild is excited to have Brandon Henrie, new store manager at Cheap Joe's Art Stuff in Charlotte, giving a presentation titled, Mark Making from the “Ground” Up.  The ClearWater Artist Studios is co-hosting this event which will be held in the main gallery space at ClearWater.  More details below on location.

Brandon’s presentation will include an in-depth discussion and demonstration of creating art with both new and old products.  He will explain the different grounds or coatings applied to canvas, panels, and paper; discuss a variety of mediums; and describe drawing tools for used for mark making.  Our area artists always look forward to Cheap Joe’s demonstrations.  This meeting will be one that you will won’t want to miss.

About Brandon Henrie…

Brandon holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte where he won awards in both studio art and art history. His work has been included in numerous exhibitions.  A gallery of his work can be found on his website (www.bdhart.com) where he also shares the inspiration for his art.

Tenant Artists Show V - Opening Reception / Artist Talk

CONCORD, NC - The tenant artists of ClearWater Artist Studios will gather to welcome the public and discuss their latest work and experiences as working artists, this Friday, March 22, 2019. Some works in the show, ‘Tenant Artists Show V,’ mark key recent developments in the evolution of certain artists’ style, choices and career path; while others exhibit the mastery of techniques and subject matter honed over years.

Spectacular Raptor Portraits, vibrant children’s book illustrations, large and affecting abstract expressionist pieces, and softly-hued, lovely landscapes are just some of the works on display- not to mention a range of turned-wood and glass pieces.

ClearWater Artist Studios houses the working studios of 12 artists as well as the Southern Piedmont Woodturners’  Association (a Club).  All artists leasing individual studios are juried-in using a range of criteria (currently, the waiting list stands at 14).

The Artists will form a Panel Discussion in the middle of the Gallery starting at 7:00 p.m. during the Opening Reception. Guests are welcome to enter after this time, we just ask consideration for those speaking and listening.

Free; free parking; refreshments.

Art Of Injury Prevention: Exhibit Opening

The North Carolina Athletic Trainers’ Association in conjunction with ClearWater Artist Studios,

is pleased to present The Art of Injury Prevention and Athletic Training, an Athletic Training and Sports Medicine photographic and illustrated art exhibition displayed at ClearWater Artist Studios in Concord, NC (part of the Charlotte Metro area) with an opening reception Sunday, March 10th, 2019 from 2:00 - 5:-00 PM in our Second gallery/ Lower Level Community Room. The event is free and open to the public. On hand will be the ballerina featured in the photos and the photographer. Regional athletes especially are invited to attend.

ClearWater Artist Studios, in partnership with the North Carolina Athletic Trainers’ Association, will open this exhibit of a series of art photographs, commissioned to draw attention to approaches for best practices in preventing sudden death and catastrophic injury in athletics in North Carolina. The idea is to utilize art for a series of educational posters to achieve this goal.

The exhibit will be on view from Feb. 25 through March 29, 2019. It is open to the public, and will celebrate March as National Athletic Training Month. The art will be in the Community Room/ Second Gallery at ClearWater Artist Studios.

Sports, team-based or individual, provide confidence, social skills, self esteem and physical activity; but during a 17 year period (July 1, 2000 through June 30, 2017) there have been 489 catastrophic sport-related deaths documented among high school and college athletes in the United States, captured by the National Center for Catastrophic Sport Injury Research. There have been 20 events captured among athletes in North Carolina during the same time period.

Open Studios Work Session with Cabarrus Art Guild

Cabarrus Art Guild hosts their weekly Open Studios, collaborative work session at ClearWater Artist Studios!

Every Tuesday, 11am - 3pm. Free - Open to area artists - Meet the Art Guild membership!

Enjoy a friendly communal atmosphere while making your art. Explore the rest of ClearWater Artist Studios including the Main Gallery upstairs. Meet fellow artists!

Any artists interested in working in proximity to other artists for a few hours each week or any given week, are welcome to attend. Bring in a project that can be portable (pack in it/ pack it out), whatever you want to eat for lunch, and an open friendly attitude!

You don’t have to be an Art Guild member to attend.

Open Studios session was formerly at the 11 Union Street location formerly occupied by the Cabarrus Art Guild.

Live Collaborative Painting Demo: VIsual Strategies

Mikel Frank and longtime collaborative painting partner Gerard Amsellem, who both form the The Visual Passion Duo, will present a 5-hour live painting collaboration to live music by local musician, Noel Freidline. Anyone and everyone is welcome to come watch, and see the exhibition that will be on view!

Today's event is in conjunction with our monthly 2nd Saturday Open Studios on Saturday, July 14th, from 11:00am to 4:00pm (doors open at 10am)

Visual Strategies: A Collaborative Project (FaceBook page) is a Guest exhibit / set of events this Summer at ClearWater Artist Studios. It is being organized by two collaborators: local artist/ curator, Mikel Frank, and collaborating curator & artist, Carl Heyward. Frank recently moved to Charlotte from the New York City area and a 29-year career at the Met Museum of Art, and is now an adjunct art instructor at Rowan-Cabarrus Community College and Gaston College; Carl Heyward is an artist and founder of the Global Art Project, and lives and works out on the West Coast. 

Participating artists from the Global Art Project (GAP) are shipping their jointly-made works in from all over the world for the exhibit, and there will be three live-collaborative-painting events, including one that's for YOU (or anyone) to participate in, on Saturday August 11!
