Demo: Henna Art by Sarveshwari Naveen

A talk and hands on demonstration of Henna Art. Henna is a temporary tattoo that is usually applied on the hands and feet. It is very popular in India. It is also called as Mehendi. It is an intricate art of making thin beautiful designs using a cone filled with 'ink'. Henna 'ink' is completely natural.

The instructor will show you how to apply and experiment with a piece of paper, or even on your own skin if you're willing to try! The henna should be allowed to stay on the skin for around 6-8 hours for maximum stain and then is washed off with water. An orange brown stain remains on the skin for a week or two.

Sarveshwari is a passionate artist who loves working on various Indian art forms and Indian mythological paintings (her favorite). She loves teaching kids and adults these arts. She is also a henna artist and likes to create intricate henna designs.

EXHIBIT: 'Dream In Color'

GIF Horizontal Improved Final Graphic.gif

A joint Guest Artist show of expressive paintings by Andell McCoy and Erin Allen, two regional artists - and friends -  based in Albemarle, NC:

  • Opening Reception Friday, Nov. 2, 6:30pm-8:30pm

  • Joint Artist Talk, same evening, ClearWater Gallery, 7pm

Statement from Erin and Andell:
Dream in Color is a bright and bold celebration of Color at a time of year when everyone needs it. As artists, we believe strong color inspires positivity and exuberant living. Neutrals, monotones, and dishwater beige need not apply. We are two women finally back on track with what life derailed – rediscovering art and placing creating art at the top of life’s priorities. Art with truth and light and energy. “Wouldn’t it be lovely if people didn’t have to wait until later in life to do what they dream of? We’re back on track and want to share it with the world!"
