Local painter brings Global Art Project, Live Collaborative Painting to Concord

Local painter brings Global Art Project, Live Collaborative Painting to Concord

CONCORD –  ClearWater Artist Studios in Concord, NC is pleased to be collaborating with local artist/ curator, Mikel Frank, to realize an exciting and unique art exhibit and related events. "Visual Strategies: A Collaborative Project" will be coming to ClearWater’s Main Gallery July 1st, through August 2018. The show is being organized & co-curated by Frank—who recently moved to Charlotte from the New York City area and a 29-year career at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and now serves as an adjunct art instructor at Rowan-Cabarrus Community College—and collaborating curator & artist, Carl Heyward, founder of the Global Art Project (https://www.facebook.com/globalartproject2017/), who resides in Northern California.  

Participating members of the Global Art Project (GAP) are shipping their collaboratively constructed artworks in from all over the world for the exhibit, and there will be three live-collaborative-painting events open to the public. One is open for anyone to participate in (see below). The Exhibition will be on view in the ClearWater Artist Studios Main Gallery from Sunday, July 1 through Friday, August 24.

 

As part of the show, three collaborative live-painting events will be held for the public:

The Opening Reception with Live Painting Event will be Sunday, July 1st, 2018 from 3:00 - 5:30 p.m.; Selected artists participating in the show will create a painting, live, on large-format paper in the Gallery. Light refreshments will be served. 

 

On Saturday, July 14th, Mikel Frank and longtime collaborative painting partner, Gerard Amsellem, who together form the Visual Passion Duo (www.visualpassion.net), will present a 5-hour, Live Collaborative Painting Demo, accompanied by live music with local jazz pianist, Noel Freidline. This is in conjunction with the monthly 2nd Saturday Open Studios at ClearWater, from 11:00am to 4:00pm (doors open at 10am).

 

Then, on Saturday, August 11 the Studios will host the 3rd and final event, Family Collaborative Painting Day; Sessions at 11am and 2pm will be facilitated by Mikel Frank (until 4pm). The community is invited to come paint a large work together, which will then be added to the exhibition.  Doors open at 10am for 2nd Saturday Open Studios.  Details are at www.ClearWaterArtists.com.

ClearWater Artist Studios is located in Gibson Village, less than a mile from Downtown Concord,
